Divitto and Andrea and conduct paper mache and Stryfoam sculpture workshops at educational facilities such as libraries, aquariums, schools, and nature/community centers throughout Florida. We offer a variety of workshops for children and adults. Class-size is generally between 10 and 35 students. Age range for children's workshops are between 6 to 18 years old. If you have a particular idea or theme in mind, let us know. We're open to your suggestions. Intro to Papier–Mâché: (1-2 hours)

Our Intro to Papier–Mâché Workshop is beneficial to newcomers of all ages. Here, students are informed about the basics of paper mache sculpting and then create an object out of newspaper, masking tape, foam board and/or cardboard. Next, students begin the actual paper mache process by applying newspaper strips saturated in a glue/water mix to the object. In previous workshops, students have created sharks, dolphins, sea turtles, eels, butterflies and more. We always make sure to assist any student who needs it. We also suggest what art supplies you will need to complete your sculpture and where to find the best prices.

∗Please note that this is a one session workshop so the sculptures will not be completed. The goal here is to make a constructive armature (frame) and begin the actual paper mache process.
Start to Finish Papier–Mâché: (1-2 hours)

We offer a four-session "Start to Finish" Papier–Mâché Workshop where students make an object out of newspaper, masking tape, foam board and/or cardboard. Students then apply newspaper strips saturated in a glue/water mix and then paint it. In previous workshops, students have made various sea animals, cats, holiday ornaments, airplanes, and more. You may also request a specialized paper mache mix (rather than using newspaper strips and glue/water mix) at an additional charge. The cost of paint is extra.
Styrofoam Art Sculpture: (1-2 hours)

This uniquely fun workshop involves using high-quality Styrofoam, a glue/water mix, and colored tissue paper. We cut out various shapes such as sharks, dolphins, dinosaurs, butterflies, various zoo animals, and more, from 4x8 sheets of Styrofoam. Students brush on the glue/water mix and apply the colored tissue to the shape. At a recent workshop, we precut nearly three-dozen two-foot clownfish. Students (and parents) had a great time adding the appropriate colored tissue paper.

For group workshops for teens, I generally cut out one to three (8-foot) shapes such as dolphins, sharks, dinosaurs, or butterflies and then students apply a variety of colored tissue paper. When completed, the sculpture is placed at the school, library, etc. and becomes a permanent fixture. This is a great way to give kids of all ages a true sense of accomplishment.
Why Styrofoam Art?

We were interested in designing a suitable craft that students could finish in an hour or less. While we enjoy teaching papier–mâché art, the process requires a bit more time. By using Styrofoam as a base and applying colored tissue paper with a glue/water mix, we were able to come up with a viable art project that people of all ages can enjoy. More importantly, it’s a genuinely unique craft. Parents (who are encouraged to join in) always remark how calm and relaxing the workshops are. We can even add a little Hawaiian music in the background!
Workshop Prices

Generally, a one-hour workshop is $225.00; two hours is $325.00. This depends on what types of supplies (and how many) are needed, the amount of students, and travel distance. The price includes the cost of ALL materials such as masking tape, cardboard, foam board/cardboard, Styrofoam, colored tissue paper, and glue. We will also supply the use of brushes and cups if you need them. The specialized paper mache mix and paints are extra. Travel expenses are negotiable too.

If you have any questions about pricing or possible discounts, please feel free to email us at info@divittokelly.com, or call our studio at (954) 927-9514. Thanks!
