Hi everyone. I'm having an exhibit at City Hall in Hollywood. The show runs until the end of April. On display are lots of sharks, big and small, and some other sea creatures. My eight-foot chalkboard shark looks perfectly at home in the middle of the second- floor lobby. There's a box of chalk for people to add a little creative touch to the whale shark-shaped sculpture too! Special thanks to the City of Hollywood City officials, Artwork Selection Committee, and staff. I appreciate your support! DiVitto

We wrapped up our four-day papier mache workshop at the Ocean Reef Club located in Key Largo Jan 9. The program was a big success and the students loved it. Andrea and I greatly appreciate all the kind words from the students (who all did amazing work). Here are some pictures of the workshop and beautiful Ocean Reef. We look forward to teaching another workshop next year. Thanks again!

In mid-January, Andrea and I will be conducting a four-day papier mache workshop for adults at the Ocean Reef Art League(www.oceanreefartleague.com),located in Key Largo. It's a beautiful place and we're very excited to be selected to do the program. Pictures coming! From February to April, I'll have about nine sculptures on display at the City of Hollywood(www.hollywoodfl.org). This follows the successful show at the ArtsPark in Hollywood from September through November. I'm looking to present a new sculpture or two. In April 2011, we'll be at the Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center, located at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale. We'll be offering a pair of exciting craft programs for children! Visit www.nova.edu/library/ferro for more details. We've done a few programs in the past and always get a terrific turn out. Thanks again Rebecca!

On Oct. 23, Andrea and I traveled to the Flagler County Public Library, located in Palm Coast, Florida for a unique Halloween "tissue mache" craft program. I precut nearly three dozen 20-inch candy corn shapes (I beveled the edges and included a base) from 3" thick high-quality Styrofoam. The students brushed on a glue/water mix and then added layers of white, orange, and yellow colored tissue paper. To help inspire the children, there were bowls of candy corn for everyone! Thanks again Theresa Owen for hiring us!

Andrea and I were one of a few south Florida artists selected to paint a 7-foot fiberglass alligator sculpture. The sculptures will be on permanent display throughout Sawgrass Mills.

In the spring 2010, we had the pleasure of making a 6-foot tiger for the World Wildlife Fund. According to the Chinese Zodiac, 2010 is the year of the tiger. Originally, the tiger was going to be shipped to Qatar, but due to shipping costs, the tiger was eventually sent packing to Washington, D.C. The WWF recently planned a trip to Capitol Hill (with tiger in tow), but they couldn’t get it past security!
A few other fun projects include making a two-foot chocolate chip cooking, a donated Oscar the Grouch sculpture for an event in Miami, and a pair of 8-foot sharks. I need to finish painting a 3-foot killer whale . . . in tangerine orange and white.

Andrea completed a 6-foot giraffe for the Mount Sinai Hospital located in Miami Beach. Preschool children brushed on a glue/water mix (with a little help from Andrea and me) and added layers of colored tissue paper. The young children did a terrific job! The colorful giraffe looks great. (add photo)Andrea and I were selected (along with a few other Florida artists) to paint individual 7-foot alligator sculptures. We’re going to paint ours like a juicy slice of watermelon. When completed, the sculptures will be on display at the Sawgrass Mills Mall located in Sunrise, Florida. The sculptures will then be auctioned off with the proceeds going to the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood. In the spring 2010, we had the pleasure of making a 6-foot tiger for the World Wildlife Fund.
